After 6 months with the company, Yvonne showed vast potential and worked extremely hard to earn a promotion, going from Project Coordinator to Project Manager, which is a job she finds rewarding each and every day at work. Being a part of a leading PropTech company, joining DisplaySweet was a career highlight win and she looks forward to growing with the business and her fellow colleagues.
Q1: Please tell us about your career to date and where you were working before joining the DisplaySweet team?
After finishing my studies, I worked as a Marketing Executive in a property developer’s business for two-and-a-half years.
Q2: Please talk us through an average day in the office for you and what does that look like?
I’ll start off the day by checking and responding to emails and meeting with the team to review the day or to flag any important dates. Throughout the day I will be liaising with clients and working with the team to build the applications. At the end of the day, we’ll check back in as a team and work through any potential risks.
Q3: How has DisplaySweet helped your career with working for a leading PropTech provider?
I’m proud and grateful to be working alongside a great group of professionals on some of the biggest projects in the country. Everyone is so passionate with what they do and their unique backgrounds and experiences creates a special environment where I’m excited to learn something new everyday.
Q5: What have you learnt most since joining the DisplaySweet team and how has the role challenged you the most?
Learning to stay cool, calm and collected in a time crunch situation while trying to solve problems. I think this is something I have now mastered – but like anything, it’s a work in progress.
Q6: What career opportunities have you been provided with at DisplaySweet and have you enjoyed some on-the-job and external learning and development new skills along the way?
Things have progressed very quickly since I started and I’ve been able to pave my own way with my team to implement changes and improve our processes. I think there’s no better way to learn than to dive right into the deep end and being hands-on, so it’s been great to be in a supportive environment that allows for so much involvement. After only 7 months, I’m excited to have been given the opportunity to start 2022 in a new role as a Project Manager for DisplaySweet.
Q7: How do you stay focused and committed to your role, and ensure you are giving the job your all?
I love lists and checking things off once they’re done – it’s the most satisfying thing! This also helps keep me focused and stay organised. Maintaining consistent and clear communication has also played an integral part in delivering high-quality projects on time.
Q8: Please share with us how important it is for you to achieve the perfect work/life balance and how you view the new way in which the world is doing business.
Having a good work/life balance is very important to me so that I can give 100% to our clients and the team professionally and be present with myself, friends and family in my personal life.
Q9: Adapting to change and the ability to be agile are at the forefront of the business ethos in the new world in which we live – how do you translate this methodology into your day-to-day role?
The only constant is change and the inability to adapt or be agile will leave you behind in a world that’s evolving so rapidly. Applying that same methodology into my day-to-day work life has kept my mind open and positive when dealing with each project’s nuances and challenges.
Especially as we are currently going through very unprecedented times, with so much uncertainty. I am grateful to feel supported by our DisplaySweet Management and fellow colleagues.
Q10: Who do you look up to as a mentor and who inspires you to be the best version of you?
I’m inspired and motivated by the people around me, who I work with at DisplaySweet, especially with the determination and drive I see from our two founders: John and Steve.
